I love my Beyerdynamic DT-250 80ohm but unfortunately, the vacuums/carpet cleaners around my desk (overnight) are driving me nuts.

I used to own a pair of Sennheiser HD 280s and actually liked the sound signature (I know they're pretty polarizing) as well as the outstanding isolation.

Can anyone recommend closed headphones (not IEMs) that will not be a step down in SQ from the DT-250s but provide significantly better isolation (approaching the HD 280s)? I'm looking for something that can be driven by a portable player. I have a pair of Senn HD 25s but they are not comfortable for long term use.

* HD 380s
* Maestro 8.35Ds?
* Ultrasone 780s or 900s?
* Shure SRH840s?

From HeadRoom's isolation graphs, it looks like I won't fare much better with Ultrasones or Shures.

My reccomendation goes for, the shure SRH840...they have great isolation, they also includes a threaded 1/4" (6.3mm) gold-plated adapter.

Since you like them, why not just get another pair of HD 280's? (Which come with a threaded gold plated 1/4" adapter too.)

Acix, have you heard the 280s/380s and if so, does the GMP 8.35 come close to that amount of isolation?

Lavcat, the 280s would be a step down from the SQ I am enjoying right now.

Yes, the 8.35 it's superior to the HD-280 in any regard, you also can mod the 8.35 by changing the pads.
