I was hoping for some reviews and comparisons from those of you out there who own these. If you own another set of closed cans and feel they are of merit then add them to the fray. LET THE GAMES BEGIN!!

You might find somebody who will be able to a/b the DT770 and K81DJ, since they are quite famous here on head-fi. I am not sure about the ATH-Pro700 and the Proline 650. Ultrasone does not get much love here on Head-fi, but I love my Ultrasones HFI-650. The K81DJ sounded good as well, but they put too much pressure onto my ears.

I actually read that from some of the other members about the k81DJ. Can anyone vouch for them after you've stretched them...are they still clamps or are more comfortable?

You may wish to include the K271S as well. The K81DJ is very good, but the K271S is much better when properly amped. Different flavours though... depends on how much bass you need.

I did mean the K 81 DJ...from the posts on here and headphone.com's review, the 181 left something to be desired. If you have some insight on the 271 please add it. I think it would be good to have an overall consideration, which would include value...and that's why I picked the K81DJ because right now it's going for ~$69.

I'm going to have to point you to the search button regarding the K271S unfortunately. I don't own them anymore and have talked about them on her a LOT already and would just be repeating myself.

My recommendation would be the Ultrasone HFI-650. I prefer it over the AKG K271, ATH-A900LTD, HD 280 and the K81DJ.

The HFI-650 is not doing anything perfect, but everything quite good and it is comfortable.

IMO, DT770 and K81 are the two opposite thinkable solutions to solve the problem "closed can for basshead". The big DT770 is laid back, has a quite huge soundstage and PRAT is almost absent due to the booooom subbass. The smallish K81 is a nervous beast, soundstage doesn't exist, and everything bangs directly onto your eardrums.

Best closed cans I ever crossed until now were the A900s. Great for anything that is thrown to them - the DT770 and K81 lack in this respect.

Since the K81DJ is a current FOTM here I was pretty sure that's the headphone he meant, and it looks like that is indeed the case. And yeah, AKG really pulled a boner on the model numbers for these two cans.

I prefer the PROline 650 over the HFI....I dont know why....same drivers...pretty much the same thing, but the PROline version just sounds much better to me
