Hi all,

I'm after a pair of closed back circumaural cans for home use, mobile use and listening on the stereo at home and via a Sony nwz f886/fiio e12

I have a few requirements... (Don't we all)

1) no more than about £175
2) closed back, circumaural
3) great for house, trance, edm
4) very comfortable
5) ideally a shorter or detachable cable

A bit of history....

Had senns hd25's, had vmoda 80's, had beyerdynamic dtx501p, had akg k450 - granted these are all on ear so no need to look at these

After reading a lot of threads, I reckon my short list is from...

1) beyer dt770 80ohm - only real concern is the 3m cable
2) ultrasone hfi580 - ideally would want beyer type pads if poss (dt250's?)
3) ultrasone hfi680 - as above with pads
4) ultrasone pro 550

Is there anything else I should be looking at? I don't mind say seonding £150 on the cans then another £20 on pads or shorter cable

Thanks

What sounds signature are you looking for? Dt770s will do okayif you don't mind non existent mids and pretty rolled off bass. The akgs might not be a bad choice if you want quality bass over quantity. Or you can always just get D2000s if they were your budget.

I'd prefer a warm signature, decent across the spectrum if poss. Adequate bass for my music tastes but not overpowering or dominant at the cost of elsewhere

still undecided on this, keep swapping my amazon (uk) basket

the cal!2 have just come down by £30 which covers the cost of the "upgrade" cable recommended in reviews - if there were more long term user reviews opinions i may go for these as this is going to be the final purchase (for a while)

I keep looking at the sennheiser momentum on ear as well
