I just bought a maxed meta42 amp, hoping it would solve some clipping issues. My HD595 tend to clip at loud passages particularly with jazz and classical music. The volume is relatively loud, but still listenable. They clip at about the same volume through my receivers headphone jack throught the amp hooked up to tape out, and also through the my laptop. Do you think this is because of the headphones or because of the amps?

Through the receiver (Onkyo) it is a cheap phillips 5 disc changer, on the computer, I extracted it to a 224kpbs ogg file from a mat****a cdrw/dvdrom.

What would you recommend for a reasonably priced source?

Just make sure you're connecting your amp to a Line Level output " line out", this will minimize the clipping. Clipping is a result of to hot a signal. It isn't your headphones, just the configuration of your source.
