Hey,

Does anyone know if its possible to properly clean a leather headband of a beyer 990?
It was once colored like the "cognac" thingy that you can now see at the manufaktur but has gotten darker at some places due to regular usage.
I tried to clean one side with some sort of soft leather cleaner but now the leather just got darker uniformly there. Maybe its meant to "age" naturally in the end. Any Ideas?

Yes, it is "aging" naturally. You can buy leather treatment/cleaning products like Leather New, Lexol etc. which cleans and treats at the same time (you should expect to renew moisture to your leather) aprox 2-3 times a year .......but be asured - leather DOES naturally darken with use and age. The only exception would be leather that has had a glaze that was applied during production, which would also inhibit its' life and application of moisturizing products. .........I luv the Beyer gen. leather headbands, but only use gen. leather earpads on dt770's.

Okay, actually it makes kinda sense. I guess since I havent treated the leather for like over a year its bound to darken quite a bit. Adding to that the usual amount of sweat or whatever else happens to come in contact with it the leathers probably not in the best shape anymore. Maybe I'll ask if they ship new headbands as replacable since you can order the artificial ones from their spare parts shop. Anyway, I'll treat the leather from now on.
Funny, I only thought about treating the headband after I had to treat a leather chair for the first time, maybe I shouldve bought that chair a year earlier.

Having maintained my share of tack for horses my favorites are saddle soap for cleaning and mink oil for protection. Lexol is good for protection as well. And yes the leather will darken.
