I'm thinking of compiling a test playlist with which I can quickly assess sound quality. What excerpts (around 15-45 secs) would be best for this purpose and what should be I be listening out for? Thanks.

This little site here has a few songs in all sorts of file styles. There's a little login that you have to do, but the info for that is in the text at the top of the page. Some of the recordings are absolutely massive though, so just be warned.
