so far i've started to listin to a lot of rock, i liked Led Zepplin and Pink Floyd. ACDC didn't really tickle my fancy, Elvis Costello was ok as well but i'm not too sure if hes considered as a rock artist.

Are there any other highly recommend albums out there?

Shoot, if it's 10 years old or older it's all classic rock. Wow, where do you start from a blank slate? No matter where you begin, you are in for a treat...

From what youve mentioned, it seems like you enjoy some psychadelic/progressive classic rock.
Regardless, you should try "The Best of the Doors" (double cd-great starter)
Also, Rush "Moving Pictures" is a terrific album.

Electric Light Orchestra - Out of the Blue

Wings - Venus and Mars

REO Speedwagon - hi infidelity

Out of the Blue has a techno/progressive slant to it, but not enough to bother me. This is one of my all time favorite albums.
Paul McCartney and Wings is really mellow stuff, but it holds up well over time.
hi infidelity is another all time favorite. I've been listening to this album since it came out, way back when. Great "classic" rock in the truest sense.
For something along a different path than Zep and Floyd, try Jethro Tull - Aqualung. This can seem a bit folksy at times, but it is rock n roll, and very good rock n roll at that.

There are hundreds upon hundreds of great classic rock albums.

Read allmusic.com, which will give their top album pick for each artist. Many bands (Zeppelin, Beatles, Stones, etc.) will have three or four great albums to choose from.

Here are some of my favorite artists/bands (pre-1980), off the top of my head:

Beatles
Byrds
David Bowie
Can
Captain Beefheart
Cream
Dylan
Doors
Grateful Dead
Jimi Hendrix
King Crimson
Led Zep
Pink Floyd
Rolling Stones
Velvet Undergound
Neil Young

Ok, maybe some of the old Bon Jovi. Did I just admit that?

<edit> that's all butt, not classic rock. Sorry about that.
