Nevermind lads, I got the ATH-A900Xs for a bargain and all mention of them had been shining (minus the wing headband complaints - but I can address that). 
 
Got them for 142 euro, steal!

Some people complain about them but I think they look lovely and the reviews make them sound jammin B)

I used to have them and thought the highs were a bit more demure than my Sony MDR-V6. And certainly, a better overall upgrade. Hopefully, they will work for you, too, in comparison to the 7506. Famous last words (hope I don't jinx you), but I think for the price you got 'em for, you ought to be pretty happy.

How did you find them, any EQing advice should they call for it?

I liked them like they were. I tend to get rid of headphones that I feel need EQ for listening to music. Although I'd probably add some bass boost if watching a movie
