Tried out some over-ear wireless and decided the HD1 cans sounded best for me.
But, I think I want to go with a more hi-fi IEM and use a bluetooth strap with it when I want to be on the go.
So, just wondering, comparing apples to apples, if I used the Senn HD1 wired to a MacBook Pro (no DAC or amplification beyond that), which hi-fi IEMs would be generally regarded much improved on that sound?
For example, would the Shure 846 or Westone W60 be a big step up from the wireless HD1?
Finally, would going CIEM (like UE Pro Reference Remastered) further improve the sound?
Again, lets assume all on a wired connection (including HD1s). I'd only be using the bluetooth strap with the IEM/CIEMs when on the go with my iPhone.
Finally, musical preferences are 90% classic rock/alt rock/heavy metal/progressive rock; 10% modern rock/top 40 pop.
