I believe the port would last more ins-and-outs, less strain as there are no "teeth" on the cable end.

is the USB C connector as audio friendly I wonder? Re jitter and noise ..I notice that Chord do not support firmware updates so hardware/software in Hugo2 is fixed from release to project endlife. Which could at this stage be easily 5-6 years, with Hugo3 coming in 2023 or later. So makes the company more conservative on changing formats that in their view are adequate I guess.
Just realised that I never posted these photos here:
Well now, this looks interesting. Some kind of new DAP? (click for larger images):
Something interesting in here:
Aha! All is revealed. Someone has gone and produced the perfect travel case for the Chord Hugo2:
Note the right-angled micro USB extender for charging. I also shortened the headphone cable and added a right-angled Neutrik plug. The right-angled optical cable and right-angled mini-optical adapter were found on a popular internet retail site. The DAP is the Cowon Plenue R2 - one of very few DAPs available with optical output and having vast battery life in optical mode. Sound quality is beyond amazing and with a shoulder strap you could take it anywhere or just wear it around the house.
It is of course the new iTraveller from iFi Audio - the Swiss Army Knife of travel cases?
Since that last photo was taken, I have turned the Hugo 2 around so that the cables got out the other end. This works better when using it with a shoulder strap and is a little easier on the optical cable too.

Man, those cables are the weakest points of your setup...
Anyway you have reached "very good trevel setup with near desktop sound quality", but not the DAP
First of all in your scenario there is enough space in this beautifull case for Xduoo x10t ii wich is a transport
Since X10T II is designed as a transport -- it will give you the best SQ and connection via coax
Also it can be controled from your smartphone via Hiby Link or many other connectivity options
Thus you'll be able to use at least audiophile quality cable like Cayin cs-30tcr type-c to coaxial cable
or any other angled 3.5mm to 3.5mm audiophile grade coax cable
(wich is easy to find and it will give you better SQ over those optical consumer connectors for household appliances like TV).
And those actions will give you not a DAP, but "great trevel setup with near desktop sound quality".
The worst thing in audio sendwitches is twin sided controls.
Screen at one side, but volume control and filter buttons at the other side -- it's really unconvenient.
And the only way to get a reasonable DAP-like sendwich is to put everithing at one side.
So if you wanna get a best DAP ever, you will need:
1. Chord Hugo 2
2. 3M Dual Lock zipper as thin as you will able to find
3. Hiby R3 or Xduoo X10T II
4. Cayin cs-30tcr type-c to coaxial cable
for coax setup,
or:
3. Hiby R3 Pro or FiiO M6
4. Fiio CL06 Type C to Micro USB OTG Cable
for USB setup
USB has advantage of bit perfect ability but wasting space at another side of the H2 (the opposite side to headphones out).
I prefer coax at least because it connects at the same side of H2 where headphone output is placed AND sounds better to me.
At the pics attached you can see uncompleted setup with Hiby Type-C to Coax cable -- it's too short, Cayin CS-30TCR cable is 5cm longer and will arrive soon to me.
Also I will try to find some configuration with Xduoo X10T II -- it's larger and harder to fit (if possible).
Of course there are pros and cons of 2Go and pros and cons of one-sided sandwich
But for me this particular config with Hiby is way better then the 2Go as it adds:
a screen, 5Ghz WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0 with top notch LDAC, Hiby Link and UAT are great features also.
Just one pity thing -- R3 plays better then R3 Pro
(Hiby slightly downgraded their dual crystal oscillators in R3 Pro)
and no WiFi 5Ghz and BT 5.0 in a non pro version.
The FiiO M6 config adds even Tidal offline!
And the construction even may play better than 2Go with Xduoo X10T II.
But ALL this text is JUST IMHO!

Are substitutions allowed? Swap in a Hiby R6 Pro? Or my Cowon Plenue II?.

Or skip the DAP & play from Hugo2go sd-cards?
Right now I’m enjoying this rig:
Hugo2go ==> BX2+ ==> Heddphone (just received BX2+)
Happy listening

BX2 Plus looks like a clear beast! I'm afraid to ask what headphones do you drive out of it?!!!Are substitutions allowed? Swap in a Hiby R6 Pro? Or my Cowon Plenue II?

Very interesting how good is it and how much it is adding to Hugo's already excellent sound?!
If you already have 2Go so is there a space for discussion?
You just can have a great pleasure with 2Go and nothing to warry about?
Just really interesting what gear will perform better: 2Go from SD or Xduoo x10t ii from the same SD?
If you can find X10T II somewere — it's interesting to put it in front of H2 and compare them face to face!
It looks like Hiby R6 Pro has the same oscillators as R3 (not R3 Pro)
so must perform at least no worse than R3 in coax output,
but I can hardly imagine R6 will fit on H2 face building a one-sided sandwich..
Two-sided sandwiches are really fat, bulky and extremely unconvenient to me.
I was using Hugo 2 with FiiO M11 and I'm full of this, went out of this story...

All my full-size cans, but specifically got it for this:BX2 Plus looks like a clear beast! I'm afraid to ask what headphones do you drive out of it?!!! ...

But I’m very pleasantly surprised by how well Utopia responds to that chain. Plus, it’s just one more chain which makes Auteur shine.

Guys just started to play with the Hugo2 and my Utopias alongside my Focal Arche and can I ask a quick question?
The power button is yellow?
Is this also the battery indicator light as I don’t see yellow in the instructions?
