I highly suggest finding a Ibasso 220max to try out. It has me using my Hugo2/2go less.

No ess saber treble harshness, but still has full extension.

Mids are normal.

Bass is tight and not coloured to have any extra note weight.

I hear only good things about the A&K SR25, if anyone is thinking of a DAP. ... It has legendary battery life too compared with any previous A&K. Win win really. Impressed in every review; all the magazines love it.

Bet the Mojo still pips it though. However it's not always about sound. Ease of use and carrying a single unit matters to me too. Like I have a Sony ZX300 which is only a humble DAP next to the A&K SR25. However it still has its moments with my AKG N40. As long as it's playing the music, that's all I think I need for on the go.

Hey all

4 year MOJO owner here. Anyone here using XDUOO X10T , COAX , HUGO2 , IER Z1R setup?

I previously tried MOJO vs HUGO2 via usb from a cheap chifi dap , but have since upgraded my MOJO setup with pretty fantastic results - moving to pure digital out player and COAX ... I find COAX has noticeably lusher and richer sound with louder more emmersive sub and mid bass.

So really nice time to go back and test the HUGO2 again , as I am in the market for it potential come April .... I am curious how new transport and cable will change how I perceive the HUGO2, as well as 100+ hours more burn in on my Z1Rs ...
There were several posts from delighted owners about using the X10T II as a digital transport for the MScaler.
Since then, you often see owners recommend using it as an alternative to Poly or 2Go.

I haven't tried it myself, but I have felt tempted now and again.

You're so right, man!
Unfortunately I didn't spent enough time listening to SP2000 in a shop (((
Today I've got SP2000 and it really feels thick and not so clear as Hugo 2 is
H2 sounds really better, I'll keep it with me

SP2000 is not the same Hugo 2 sound with added convenience,
it's just convenience with a good sound
H2 is way better and can't be replaced by sp2k
Yet I prefer the SP2000 balanced with Odins over Hugo 2. Both are great but SP2000 perhaps best suited to IEMs. I find Hugo 2 at times a little sterile compared to SP2000.

SP2000 was aftermarket in mint condition about 50 hours at previous owner.
I've sold it (so quickly) as I finally was absolutely unsatisfied of it's sound.
It may be one of the best 5-star players ever, but comparing to Hugo 2 it sucks (JIMHO).
the main disappointment was sawing highs in face of H2 (build in Tidal, "Clapton Chronicles: The Best of Eric Clapton" album).
But the difference was so obvious there was no place for hope for significant enough changes from warming it up
It is interesting how we hear differently. Since I got my EE Odins I just use my SP2000 and forego the Hugo 2.

Sorry but that is a long way off topic. You're search for speakers has nothing whatsoever to do with the Hugo2.

Try here: https://www.head-fi.org/forums/cables-power-tweaks-speakers-accessories-dbt-free-forum.21/

Or here: https://www.head-fi.org/forums/introductions-help-and-recommendations.7840/

For general questions about speakers you are absolutely right.
But if you look for speakers that can be directly driven by the Hugo 2 it really becomes a very relevant question for this thread IMO.

I have been searching for information in the thread before, and the Omega Super Alnico has been recommended.
https://omegaloudspeakers.com/colle...ucts/super-alnico-monitor?variant=32172390412
The whole product range looks like a really good match with their high efficiency, but due to their size those need lots of space, not suited for desktop.

On the high-end side of things I found recommendations for Voxativ based speakers https://voxativ.berlin/drivers

But there's little information about small desktop speakers which can be driven by the Hugo 2 directly.
I ended up building some 3D printed speakers based on this design: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4128781
These little speakers work quite well for desktop listening, especially considering material costs of about $150 for the pair. Frequency response is decent. They have surprisingly deep but flabby bass, significant coloration and weak treble, but transparency is excellent when directly connected to the Hugo 2. It's still great for background music at work.
Another DIY option I find very interesting is this: https://www.lautsprechershop.de/hifi/desktop_tl.htm, but the efficiency of 77dB is most certainly too low, even for the desktop.

My question to the community is if anyone is aware of a commercially available desktop speaker that can be directly driven by the Hugo 2.
Or even a professional kit for DIY construction small size and high efficiency. Target efficiency would be 85dB, but I guess 80dB would also work for low volume listening.
(the 3D printed speaker has 85dB and is easily loud enough for the desktop)

I use Hugo 2 directly to omega RS 5 they are imho small enought for desk top. https://omegaloudspeakers.com/collections/monitor-speakers/products/super-3i?variant=32116925196
I think If you write Luis he can customise it for you and also put alnico speaker into such enclosure or think of other possibilities. Put omegas on isoacoustics pucs mini add good cable and you are done. It should sound terrific but unforgiving. I think you should seek for efficiency higher then 90 db for direct hugo 2 driving. Other alternative are proffesional near field active monitors for example JBL 305 are great value for money for active near field monitors there are hundreds of possibilities of whole different price range.

Anyone know of any 3.5mm to regular digital coaxial cables in Canada?

That's really interesting. I was not unsatisfied with details of SP2000, but Hugo 2 sound was way more rich and balanced for me.
And what is more interesting...

But fantastic thing is I find SP2000 sterile compared to Hugo 2!!!)))
Hugo 2 for me has way more consistent and clean balanced sound
While SP2000 is just sterile thin and undoubtedly detailed and sibilant oriented
Unfortunately I was not satisfied with SP2000, but tried to be hard enough

So my experience is right vice versa (((

This is why we have to demo and live with equipment because measurements are important but hearing more so. Plus the music we listen to, for me mainly indie rock and Americana but not exclusively.
I think the Empire Ear Odins are a great fit with the SP2000 whilst the Utopia work well with the Hugo 2.
