Yes, Tidal works on SP1000, but the key word is Offline..
Does it able to play Tidal offline?
Tidal plays offline if you load the apk version. So does Qobuz. I prefer the native Tidal for mqa but the apk for the overall experience.

Wow!!!
That's really new information for me, I thought only sp2k can use apk and go offline with Tidal
It's a pity I bought sp2k instead of sp1k in this case
But anyway it's already on the way..
But thank you very much for the valuable info!

I own the Hugo 2 but have done comparisons with the SP2000 on my Utopias. I like both but to my ears don’t find them very similar. The SP2000 had a much warmer seductive sound. The Hugo 2 more revealing, cleaner edges but with a colder balance.

This is exactly what I’d expect having auditioned SP2000 and owning Hugo 2. They’re different and I’d say the Hugo 2 is the more sophisticated sound. That said, the SP2000 provides a better user experience with the single device along with being slightly more portable.

My use case for the office, where I use my Hugo 2 with Stellia connected to my MacBook Pro means a transportable setup like this that I can lock in my desk at night works really well. I don’t get public transport as I’m lucky enough to drive, so the need for a truly portable setup is limited.

That said, I haven’t yet bought the 2go to make my Hugo 2 more versatile around the house, but it’s the next option I’m looking at. I’ve considered replacing the Hugo 2 entirely and just buying an SP2000 for office desktop and ‘around the house’ duties, but it’s hard to justify when it costs as much as a Hugo 2, I’ve already got a Hugo 2, and I can easily connect my phone or buy a 2go to stream.

For me it’s a big call to have Hugo 2, potentially 2go, and SP2000. Home desktop is sorted already with RME/V281, so I’m really only talking about transportable/portable options.

I have the SP1000/amp. and the H2/H2go and to my ears the SP1000 is not in the same league as the H2/H2go also the SP1000 can’t play Roon. But this is JMHO

You're so right, man!
Unfortunately I didn't spent enough time listening to SP2000 in a shop (((
Today I've got SP2000 and it really feels thick and not so clear as Hugo 2 is
H2 sounds really better, I'll keep it with me

SP2000 is not the same Hugo 2 sound with added convenience,
it's just convenience with a good sound
H2 is way better and can't be replaced by sp2k

Welcome your thoughts on using a Micro SD card with the Hugo2. I copied a folder of FLAC music and an iTunes folder onto the SD Card. Inserted. GoFigure indexed for about 39 minutes. Now I go to music but there is no search functionality or ability to play music. What I see is in the picture below. Thoughts? Thx!

That is long story, you should go to 2GO thread as I do.

As I have now both Hugo 2 and SP2000 in my hands, I can completely agree with you in fact that Hugo 2 has cleaner edges over the SP2000.
SP2000 has prickly and acute sound in front of gentle and tender Hugo 2
undoubtedly H2 wins in AMP part easily over sp2k
But all this if talking about DAC&AMP part and PCM signal about 24/192.

So if we will start raw Tidal and will drive phones straight from SP2000
then we will feel as @moemoney said
the SP2000 is not in the same league as the H2.
Even if we keep in mind that SP2000 can't be named "weak" in any way.

But if talking about DAC part and up sampling to DSD (Tidal -> Roon -> HQPlayer)...
then SP2000 shines!
with easy to drive headphones like Campfire Audio Solaris it sounds amazing even straight out of the SP2000 itself
and with good headphone amplifier it sounds greatly with any headphones

As I see now the most weighty trouble of SP2000 is the software part
Even cheap FiiO M11 has All-to-DSD feature
witch is really matters and gives solid advantage to overall sound quality

But SP2000 haven't this valuable feature
and sounds "prickly and acute in front of gentle and tender Hugo 2" as I told already...
It's a pity, it's sad for me (having bought SP2000 hoping to replace Hugo 2 in travel)
As it can replace H2 "hardwarely" if using easy to drive phones, but can't do it "softwarely"

First post and trying not to sound like a total noobie. 😉

New Hugo 2 arrived today so pretty *very*excited. Who doesn’t love a new toy? Currently it’s sitting quietly in the corner sucking in its first full 24hr charge. The plan is to use in desktop mode and take it slowly from there as I grow this hobby. First challenge (tomorrow night) will be to connect up to iPhone XR and enjoy a large slice of Tidal goodness. Can’t wait!

Hopefully I won’t have too many questions as surely no one has time to read this huge thread from the first post? I did however read the last 10 pages last night and another 10 pages tonight so I’ll pick up the bits and bobs as I go.

Wish me luck and thanks in advance. Now will I start looking for a 2go?....maybe later 👍

If SP2000 is new, it requires 200-300 hours of "warm-up" (operating time). At the end of this time, you can finally make a conclusion about the sound.

my question to you is What headphones are you using with the SP2000? I say that because when I do use my SP1000 I get my best performance from it with my 1. AK T8iE Mk 2 /// 2. My Jerry Harvey custom Laya and /// 3. Sony xba-z5 all of them sound very good coming out of the SP1000. I tried the over the ears and they just don't sound no where near as good as IEMs with this DAP.
