Chord Electronics - Hugo 2 - The Official Thread

Just listening to some Led Zeppelin's Celebration CD at 176kHz sampling rate from my Blu MK1 to my Hugo2 via Moon Audio twin BNC to 3.5mm jack Coax cable with my Beyerdynamic T5P Gen 2's.
What a wonderful sound to listen to on this Sunday morning. :)
My Chord QBD76 DAC (sitting below the Blu MK1) is currently redundant with my current Hugo2 headphone set-up.

I've tried searching this thread for answers to my questions, but with limited success. Any help would be appreciated!

I recently got off the 2go boat and got myself a Bluesound Node 2i for streaming*. The Node has (bit perfect) digital coax out, and the Hugo 2 has digital coax in. Great, I thought and ordered a Blue Jean Cable coax cable. Though one end fits the Node fine (RCA plug), the other end does not fit the Hugo 2 coax in. It seems the H2 needs a 3.5mm coax plug.

Any recommendations on a good RCA to 3.5mm adapter? I've seen a few on Amazon (like this: Monoprice 107146 3.5mm Mono Plug to RCA Jack Adaptor, Gold Plated). But they typically state that they are mono rather than stereo. Given that the cable carries binary data, is this an issue?

*If you are curious, I chose to get the Buesound because: (a) I can connect it to an external hard drive, which is a lot cheaper thank microsd storage (I use a 5tb hard drive, which I sync with my ripped CDs on Google cloud storage); (b) the Buesound is a lot cheaper than the 2go, and (3) the H2, being asynchronous, can minimize digital noise, if any, in the input from ANY reasonably constructed digital source
Hi, I have the same and setup is my living room and surround setup,1st 2weeks I was disappointed, timing not right all fet not insync.... with the node2I and was about to return it but then suddenly it abt 2 weeks in it suddenly excelled and started to just sound musical and as such is still in my system, best one of the priced and does it all, also using it with my Mojo and CH2 via Audioquest Carbon Digital Coax, think abt 180euro,thiswhenIsitt down fromy4 hour setting with the HD80, unmodded and
So a bit expensive but works fine, sh/ here cheaperversionwillperformsimilarToslink restricted to 24/96 so anything above would not work with a mojo/CH2 but potentially with tother days...but that another story... The only time I heard a slap inmy face difference was moving from a normal short 15cm stock USB to min USB cable o a Curious USB cable (28CM fo mojo/CH2), this connected via USB on my wife 2015 MBP ON BATTERY, NOT ON CHORD POWER supply...WHICH should already be better.....so basically I can out of the closet and confirm..... in-reason certain amount of burning work, also vhat changing s=certain cablemakesdifference9wiyhout getting scientific,,, please checkout audioSciencerevies review pages, Amirisadevotee! Hey Guys,

Did anyone have the chance to compare the Hugo2 with M15 or SP1000 ?

I lost my Kann recently, and I am hoping to find a DAP or a portable DAC to replace it.

It will be mainly used for my IEMs (Solaris, IE800S, SE846).
And occasionally connect with my desktop AMP for my headphones( Focal Stellia, Final D8000)

Any listening experience would be appreciate.

In short, yes, they're all the same. Whether one perceives better sound from the RCA jacks, is to me, nebulous. It might be a result of differing connectors, cables, etc.
Hi,
Late in the game on this one, could anyone officially confirm that the RCA and the 3.5/6.5mm have the same output and quality?

i have heard the hugo 2 and the sp1000. the hugo 2 is another league all together. you may not even need your desktop amp anymore. the only advantage is the sp1000 has a screen.

100% Agree.

I compared the Hugo 2 as a DAC and headphone amp using Beyer T1 Gen 2's, T5P Gen 2's and Senn HD800S's with just using the Hugo 2 as a DAC connected to a Beyer A2 and a Violectric V280 (single out and balanced out for the V280).

The Hugo 2 as a DAC and headphone amp was superior especially for clarity. Using the A2 and V280 amp masked the clarity the Hugo 2 was capable of delivering.

There's an SP2000 now. Apparently the best DAP ever.

Losing your Kann; that had to hurt.

Would you consider Mojo/Poly? Am not exactly recommending it as I am still sceptical about Poly myself. Have Mojo and loved it when I used it for desktop. Had Hugo 2 and TT2 since then, but still kept Mojo.

how does the mojo compare to TT2 side by side?
