Hello everyone, need some help in choosing new portable source.
I've been stuck with rockboxed iPod classic for years. Listening mostly to flac's and some mp3's.
Now I'm f eeling that a time for an upgrade has come.
Im using it with shure se215 IEM's, or fiio E12 + Mr. Speakers mad dog pros.

I was thinking of getting fiio X5 3rd gen. But recently I found used ak120 for same price, well even less.
I know ak120 came out round 2013 and fiio's quite fresh.

What you you recommend which one's better?

Get a compatible dac ie the excellent TEAC HA p 50 to use with your iPod. That way you get the unmatched interface (assuming you return it to Original) and quality with sound to match any if the new inferior designed DAPs. Just imho
