If you're talking about the headphone static problem, I believe that it's already been fixed on the more recent units.

I like my Carbon and I don't think anyone can go wrong with it. As far as SQ goes, it's very subjective, as people have stated already. One person might prefer one model over another. But you can rest assured that we wouldn't be talking about these models if they had absolutely horrible SQ. I just love the Carbon's ease of use. No messy firmware, which I hated with my NJB3 (though the SQ of the NJB3 trumps the Carbon, in my opinion. Though the Carbon's a an absolute featherweight in comparison).

thanks for the help guys.

i think i'm going to pick up a rio carbon.

combination of cheap price, ease of use, small form factor, and great battery life have me intrigued.

i can always return it, but i hope it works out to be good, i just want something.

thanks again.

GSHAN , your obviously not an iriver owner that long as if you browse a little, you'l find many people very annoyed as they dont get firmware updates . it can be over a year before some updates surface, to fix real issues that shouldnt be there in the first place. iriver release their products with tons of problems and only fix them after a huge surge in complaints. their support for broken players is desperate too. true, they make fantastic players, but i will never buy again from them due to their support, or lack their of, and their microsoft way of releasing an unfinished product and letting the public find problems

Just to stir up the pot a litte: Check out the posts regarding the new firmware iRiver has posted for the US H10.

Apparently it fixes most/all the problems that users were complaining about before.

already got the carbon. so far, so good. it sounds great, and works very well with my PX100's. i like its size and ease of use, didnt take me more than a few minutes to figure out how to use it.
Rio music manager is also good, i like the software and find it easy to use also.
i wish it played flac, i dont mind putting a limited amount of music on the player, i normally have a playlist made on my pc with 30-40 songs that i listen to over and over anyways, so the repetitive music is fine with me.
all in all, i like it, i think its a great player and for the price, its hard to beat.
