Rates are a large issue with the meets. The Sheraton's are very ChiUniFi friendly. Most are 3x more.

Something to consider will be Axpona coming to Chicago in April as well.  The last time I talked with them, they may have I believe they have a headphone section.

Hi All
 
Just got off the phone with Billy talking about the event.  I wanted to throw out if there were any thoughts on a different location.  The Sheraton is affordable and there is enough left over from last year's raffle to covers this years ChiUniFi.  However, some have commented on the far north location.  If anyone knows of an affordable location, please feel free to post it.  I had originally checked a lot of the regular hotels but their fees would be almost 3 time the Sheraton's.  Our attendance isn't large enough to attract a lot of vendors and each year raising raffle prizes is tougher since we've not grown.  Also this year, Axpona has moved to the end of April so it will only have been 2 months and they also had headphone vendors at their event last year and I think they are planning on growing it this year.
 
Let's create some ideas on how to continue the great tradition that has started 7 plus years ago.  Please post here with your thoughts.

Thanks for your efforts! I am looking forward to attending again this year! (and as for location, I like the Sheraton, and its actually south for me. Though, I would be willing to travel further south if needed.

Just a quick update.  While I am not going all out for the raffle, I have had confirmation Aurisonics  http://aurisonics.com/store/  and Geek by LH Labs http://mustgeekout.com/ they will donate a pair of Rockets and a Geek Out.  I have also talked with Ray Samuels Audio and he has committed to attending our 8th annual ChiUniFi (but not if it moved to downtown Chicago, which I would also suggest).

I could see us attending this meet, especially if it was held downtown. I've always wanted to go to Chicago and a meet would be an excellent reason for me to finally make it out.

Keeping it at the skokie location seems best, especially from a cost perspective.  We can also have it at the western springs location if anyone is interested in that.  it would be free.  there are lots of practice rooms we could use as well for more isolated listening.  just an option.  not as much room as the hotel though.

yeah, the western springs local is great, but its on the smaller side of what we need for the big meet.  At some point, the place I teach will build their own building.  we'll have access to some nice space for free when that happens as well.  Sounds like Skokie is it.
