With the deal that B & H is running on these phones, I'm considering buying a pair(600 ohm). What is the cheapest way to power them. Would the uDac be enough? If not what? I'm not interested in driving these to their ultimate potential, maybe sometime later I'll upgrade. I'm more concerned about what is the most cost efficient way.

Any help?

try a Zhaolu Dac, the old models are around $100. You can't use USB with it though.

The D2C drives my 600 ohm 990 quite ok.

Thanks for the reply! I was hoping to use USB. My micro atx motherboard doesn't have spdif out.

The nuforce site says that the uDAC is suitable for 16 - 300 ohms. Great question as I was looking at the DT990/600 as well. Maybe an iBasso D4, perhaps?

you might want to consider picking up a desktop amp of some sort (if possible). That would probably be the most cost efficient decision.
