For years, I've struggled with crappy umbrellas. Commonly they would break on me on one of those cold windy rainy days. And let me tell you, having a bent umbrella is annoying when you really need one.
The worst example is when I had some crappy K Mart quality umbrella and I had a hard time opening it correctly and I accidentally cut my finger on it and it frickin hurt!
So today, I borrowed someone's umbrella and I could tell that it was a nicer one and wow, what a difference. It was stronger and more durable, making it more wind proof and opening and closing it was so easy. It locked much more smoothly.
I'm not saying that you should go out and buy a $300 Burberry umbrella but those cheap Mickey Mouse umbrellas that you typically see are terrible. It's worth it to spend a little more to get a better umbrella.
