Well, my parents have a somewhat old 5.1 setup (6 or 7 years old maybe?) and their sub crapped out. It makes these loud pops and clicking noises, but im guessing its time for a new one anyway. Im not very familiar with speakers or subs, so i wanted to ask here if anyone had a reccomendation for an inexpensive sub. keep in mind audio quality is a minimal priority, as its for my parents for movies. Also it must be able to connect to a standard A/V receiver.

Thanks in advance

My guess is that the system they have is one that was bought at a retail chain or something if sound quality isn't important. Is that so? If that is, I wouldn't be spending $200 on a sub since it is probably almost as much as they spent on everything. I would recommend Vanns.com, though. Just find something in there from your range. What type of input does your receiver have?
