Does anyone know of a place to get some cheap silver hookup wire? I am in the stage of wiring everything up with my SDS Labs amp and want to use something other than radio shack junk. I just can't resist so I need to post a recent pic.

Also does anyone know where I can get a case for it. With everything on the board it is 9"(L) x 4"(W) x about 2.5"(H). I am having a hard time finding anthing around this size. I might have to get one custom built but I want to save $.

referenceaudiomods.com has audio consulting's stuff by the foot, but I'd prefer a standard insulation or teflon over their poly enamel.

I find Handmade Electronics very reasonable - www.hndme.com - he also sells teflon "spaghetti" so you can insulate the lengths of silver wire you use.

edit: wow, now he has solid gold wire too - but it's not cheap!

From an electrical standpoint, that would be spending money with no gain in performance as silver exceeds gold in conductivity.

Gold is mostly useful where corrosion may be an issue as it will not corrode which is why it is used in connectors and jacks/plugs.

The favorite place for bare silver wire over on AudioAsylum is Hoover and Strong. It's the cheapest place since they sell it for jewelry purposes, not audio - http://www.hooverandstrong.com/ Prices are based on weight of silver, there are charts to calculate weight from AWG.

A-M Systems' Teflon insulated, silver wire is very, very good. It is much better and easier than the bare silver wire--less problems!
