... Well my youngest brother will turn 14 at the turn of the month
regular_smile .gif

I hooked him up with my ESW9s and he won't take them off...

Anyway I know there are many, many threads on budget IEMs but one point here...

The IEMs will spend 90% of its life hanging off the collar of a shirt. So they need to be durable and able to withstand a little snagging. He's 13 (14). His interests comprise of football (soccer for some of you lot) and girls, not babying birthday presents

Files: MP3 (various)

Budget: south of £100 notes

Thanks

randomly suggesting the UE kids not to loud thingys, unless he would appreciate something more grown up. no idea what they sound like though but should be kid abuse friendly

oh or the PL-50 if bass lightish is alright

IE6 on the basis of kevlar cables, should be up to some abuse taking, not heard it though

sennheiser cx95 or ue superfi 3 (replaceable cable in case it gets damaged). both are pretty good and can be had for around 60 notes

My 15 and 12 y.o.s each have the PL-30's and they like them v. much. Better yet, none of their friends have them and my son can show his buds how the knob on the side makes the music go boom.

Here are a few good IEM's for that price

Etymotic ER6i
Westone UM1
Shure E3C
Shure SE110
Shure SE310

Those are some great IEM's. I have not listened to them all but I am just giving you a few options based on what I've read. Now I have owned the E3C. Also I bought them around the same age as your little bro. I have to say they were very nice. They provided Nice sound and they were very discreet in my ears. I have Also mentioned the SE310's. They are £10 over the budget but you might be able to stretch if they are a lot better than the others. I have owned multiple Shure products and I have to say they are very hard to beat as they give you 2 year warranty, Plus great customer service and their IEM's sound great.

Jays j-Jays, Jays s-Jays, Klipsch Image S2 (super Durable), Westone Um1, Klipsch Custom 1, Klipsch Custom 2, Shure Se115, MEElectronics Ai-M9.

All these sound great, are durable, and aren't the bad looker.

Rubbish, get the Turbines if you have to go with Monster. They perform better overall compared to the Dr.Dre's....
