So, due to me recently being disappointed by an "upgrade" cable purchased on eBay, and my severe reluctance to dole out more dough on cables than the AUD$160 I paid for this set of in-ears, I decided to build my own.
How hard could it posibly be, right?

I hope I'm not breaking any rules, these links aren't for advertising, merely illustration purposes.

I purchased IE8 connectors from here

3.5mm Neutrik NTP3RC Mini-TRS Jack from here

24AWG Silver-Coated Teflon Wire from here
(White for both grounds, blue for left, brown for right.)

And a large amount of various diameters/colours of heat-shrink, but the main body of my cable will be wrapped in this. I hope my cable won't be as stiff as a baseball bat.

If I feel like it, I might add fabric sheathing, but only if the bare cable/heat shrink is REALLY ugly.

These are the instructions I will follow:

Cut teflon wire to approx 6ft length. (Blue, Brown, 2xWhite)
Braid. http://www.chimeralabs.com/diy_braid.html
Large-diameter heat shrink length-minus-foot
Twist each branch a full rotation/~10mm.
Small-diameter heat shrink left and right
Large-diameter heat shrink Y-split twice - 20mm, 40mm

Slot  ~120mm large diameter heat-shrink left and right.
Slot ~50mm small-diameter heat-shrink left and right.
Clamp.
Tin Wire.
Solder IE8 connectors - blue left, brown right.
Heat shrink small diameter, left and right.
Apply strain relief on top of small-d heat shrink
Braid/Twist moulding wire
Align moulding wire inside ear hook
Slot inside large diameter heat shrink
Heat shrink large diameter, left and right.

Slot ~50mm large-diameter heat-shrink
Cut 4.8mm heat shrink tube black to 15mm length
Slot heat shrink and 3.5mm housing to braided cable.
Tin Wire
Solder 3.5mm connector - blue left, brown right.
Heat shrink 4.8mm
Screw 3.5mm jack housing.

Test.
If working properly, glue 3.5mm thread and re-tighten.

Will post as many photos as possible as stuff arrives,
