Looking for some better speakers than those on my T.V. Source will be a xbox 360 playing high bitrate mp3s and game sound. Main emphasis is bass impact and extension, but good mids are needed as well. Here is a schematic of the room.

I'd say one of my paces is about 2.5 feet.

Budget is around $70, no problem buying used.

How will you be connecting the speakers? Do you already have an amplifier/receiver?

Insignia NS-B2111 from Best Buy are pretty good for that budget. They have a 90db sensitivity rating so they can get pretty loud even from a t-amp. They are $78.74 right now but sometimes are on sale for around $50. You can always take them back if you don't like them.
