I think I want to buy a little dot MK VII+ balanced amp with a single 4pin XLR balanced output.

What is the best "cheap" cable for an HD600 for that?

I saw a 99$ cable on headroom but it had 2x 3pin XLR..

is that better or worse?

Then just buy a XLR 4pin connector and reterminate your stock cable. Cheapest way you can do.

Is two 3-pin connectors better than one 4 pin connector?

Reterminate is fine. I did not have the HD650 cable and used Mogami microphone cable, soldering directly to the binding posts behind the grill of my HD650 an terminating to 4 pin. These can be purchased for about $15-20 shipped from Markertek or similar.
