Cheap-Arse amp for me?

I would echo the sentiment expressed by a few others in this thread. You might think about a stereo amplifier, or receiver, rather than a dedicated headphone amp.

This approach will allow you to build up a stereo rig now or in the future. It has been discussed at great length in a few threads here at head-fi that stereo amp headphone outputs tend not to sound as bad as others might suggest.

You should be able to track down a very decent amplifier or receiver for sensible money. I find great deals on ebay all the time. I have picked up quite decent gear like Rotel, Luxman and NAD off ebay for pretty good prices.

Might be worth considering.

Find a stereo tube amp from a garage sale that has a tubed output. Something that uses the 12AU7/12AX7, EL84, or ECC88 will generally sound pretty decent. If not, resell the tubes and make some Moola.

If all else fails: CMoy or SSMH
