Basically I'm looking to buy a new DVD player (something around $100-$150) and want a headphone amp to be able to hook up my HD-555's to it. I don't need anything fancy. I basically want something under $100 and used is acceptable and preferred, even. What is good?

i have a pair of HD555's and i bought a headsave home vibe for it, its great. its $85 + shipping, but costs about $20 more for the power supply, so it would go a little over $100 after shipping. its a nice amp and people seem to really like it for its price, check out the thread in this forum on it.
sorry, thats the only thing i can suggest since its the only one i used

You can also get a MINT amplifier for around $95 (but an plug-in PS will run an extra $25). Note if you get a mint in a mint tin or a vibe with a 1/8" headphone jack you'll have to use a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter (headphone.com has a nice grado 1/4' to 1/8" adaptor that doesn't put much strain on the jack) to fit the plug into the jack on the amp. Note, I haven't tried them with the 555 or the 595 yet, but when I get my 595's in August, I'm powering them using my MINT. Good luck, and I'm sure you'll do well with either the MINT or the Vibe since from what I have been told about the 555/595 is that they aren't as picky about amps as the HD580/600/650's.
