anyone know of a 6.5" driver with good bass response?

only catch is that it has to be cheap ($50 shipped for a pair would be nice)

these are going in the rear deck of my car to handle bass duty (no subs).

i know this is the wrong place to ask, but i'm not a member on any good DIY speaker forums, and car audio people don't know much about 6.5's for bass

(btw, my last bass setup was two 12's ported with a 2300W amp, so this is going to be a HUGE step down, but i'm out of luck financially)

i'm looking at:

the mach5 comes to about $50 shipped for a pair, the dayton (on sale) is only about $36 for the pair, and the tang band is out of my price range

i have 75W x 2 @ 4 ohms or 125W x 2 @ 2 ohms, i'm not worried about stereo signals, so i could also have two 8 ohm drivers and wire to 4 ohms for about 225W.

tang band seems like a great choice but i don't really want to spend that much.

the dayton's i could wire to 4 ohms bridged, but the drivers can't handle that much power anyways. i have these drivers in my BR-1's and the bass is great, but that's in a ported box, i'm not sure how they'd do IB.

the mach 5's look pretty tempting right now. if shipping were a bit cheaper i'd probably already have ordered them.

anyone know of any good bargains out there?

You are not in the car section of parts express, they have a car audio dedicated section...

The Tang Bang is a subwoofer, that means that the crossover point is lot lower if you are going to pair it with the tweeter in a two way configuration, and probably you will not be able to get a good setup, the Dayton are more in the woofer range, also keep in mind that car speakers has to be resistant to other hard conditons that are not present in home speakers, like an small volume to fill with the sound, given the internal volume of the car, also abrupt temperature changes, and ultraviolet radiations if they are exposed to the sunlight, usually the materials used are different and more resistant in case of auto audio...find out before getting those for auto aplications...

good points!

i already have a pair of pioneer rev coaxials in my front doors (link), so these would only be doing the last few octaves. right now i'm thinking about 120Hz and down, but i'd play with it once i got them.

i think i'm kinda set on not getting the mach5's or dayton classics, because i think i'll just end up wanting more output.

what about these:

i assume they are 'somewhat' designed for car audio (size/shape more common), and they got a good review on a car audio forum.

any idea how they'd stack up against the 6.5" neo (tang band)?

also my rear deck has 6x9 cutouts, so that would be the easy way to go. i wouldn't have to make an adapter, and the fit would probably end up more solid.

I owuld avoid any extensive working in a car audio system, at the end as you probably know you will not get what you are looking for, but if those fit, get those and end the story there....
