Challenge: How to connect "old" speakers to comp.

It was a while ago but I think it was a headphone out (volume controlled by the Sonic Impact's volume knob).

hi,
i thought my trust 2.1 speakers wear broken so i went out to pc world and bought some logitech 2.1 speakers, using both green headphone jacks on my pc (front and back) i got them working, 4 speakers, 2 subs. then on the back of my trust speakers (on the sub) the satellite speakers plug in with 2 phono plugs, one each, so i got to passive speakers, sony hi-fi passive speakers, and i twisted together the speaker cable so each speakers positive where connected together and the same for negative, i now had 2 speakers and 1 connection. i then connected the speaker cables to the phono and forced them in (red-positive, red and black-negative) the sub acted as a preamp ( some how so now i have 6.2 working, 6 speakers, 2 subs!

Hi all
This is my 1st time on here guys! I hope someone can help me with this similar issue!! I have a 5.1Ch Pioneer speakers left from my old system (XV-DV313)..
I'm not sure if I can connect them to a new/different Amplifier?? and if so!! what type/Capacity should I be looking at?? I appreciate any notes on this.
