Chaintech AV-710 = Gainward Hollywood?

If you look in the bottom left hand corner, you'll see that two chips are different. I'm guessing the chip that the chaintech has is the wolfson dac, while the gainward has something else in the other socket.

The Chaintech now claims Envy24PT right? And now there's the new Envy24GS too? *argh* what a mess. The Gainward _might_ not have the bypass mode to use 24-bit sound?

the cards are the same except for the DAC used on 7/8 channels.. where Chaintech uses Wolfson, Gainward uses Crystal, paper specs about the same, soundwise - who knows.. Envy24PT is just BS, it is Envy24HT-S.. GS is for mobile I believe.. basicaly the same core, just different tastes..

Thanks for clearing that up! If I'm not mistaken, Envy24HT-S and Envy24PT should be the same parts, just different names to highlight the fact that the HTx line is for soundcards while PT is meant for onboard use. The Envy24GS may be an incarnation of the original Envy24.
