  Did you use the blanced input on the SR71B with your iems?
 
And hiss at low levels is what makes me dislike the Shozy Alien DAP. I feel like a good amount of musicianship is displayed at the low dynamic levels (it's easy to make most things sound good/fun/exciting when they're loud) and having a hiss obviously takes away from that musical experience greatly. I can see why it isn't a big deal for most people, but it is for me

I used the balanced output with my ciem. I didn't have anything to feed a balanced signal to the balanced input of the SR71B. Both outputs seemed hiss-free to me.
 
Since this is not a SR71B thread, however, you can send me a PM if you have any other questions about it. I much prefer the Mini-M8, at any rate, with my ciems.

I don't think the S5 has the drivers needed for most DACs unlike the S3 which did. However you can usb audio player pro which does contain the drivers or as neurofone said if you are running lollipop it does support USB audio class 2 and will support DACs like this.

I hope my comments earlier in this thread about having low levels of hiss with the Mini M8 (with one pair of iems, the Noble N5) is leading folks to look at other options. That would be making a mountain out of a molehill. .

Not running Lollipop. I'm not sure it's even available in the UK yet. If it's just a matter of obtaining Audio Player Pro then that shouldn't be too difficult. I think I'll get one of these on Massdrop. I always fancied the standard HiFi m8 but never got round to buying.

That's the first time I've seen the power adapter. It's huge! There was a rumor that the Hifi M8 could be charged through the USB cord. I wonder if we could do the same for the mini-m8.

I wish it was easy to get a converter from 4 pin balanced to RSA. Cheapest that I have seen is $99.
