Try opening the player. Sometimes a cd gets stuck in there and blocks the drawer from opening.

Unplug the player and then see if it resets itself when you plug it back in and opens. Xeno is right you may have a cd stuck. You can pull it open manually but be careful and dont use to much force.

i opened it up, no cd, it just came in, the packaging job was TERRIBLE, it was a 15x18 box for the 17x16 player :| i took it over to the sony repair center, they should have it working... it played cd's alright, but it was getting stuck when it tried to open, you could hear the moter going, but it wouldn't budge. oh and the shipper gave me money to get it fixed, they were quite helpfull.

My 775's drawer is far from perfect as well.. Matt Anker seemed to loosen it up a bit, now it works much better. It still doesn't fully extend everytime, last centimeter or so is difficult.
