Hopefully this forum is appropriate to ask about CD player faults and fixes?
So my latest CD player (/tale of woe...) makes a horrible noise on insertion of CD that I can only describe as attempting to achieve take-off! I'm sure lots of us are familiar with that from computer optical drives, very noisy, seemingly spinning much faster and vibrating more than necessary?
The machine will still play, move forward tracks etc but clearly isn't spinning correctly. From the collective experience here, does this sound like an easy and cheap fix (happy to tinker if need be) or an expensive failure about to happen? In case it's relevant this is an Arcam DV88.
For a little more context, I've just received this machine so would like to get it sorted but if it's not looking good will explore a returns route. So I'm a little on a timeline but more importantly can't start taking it apart without some confidence of success.
