I just purchased a Sony CDP-710 CD player. I warmed the unit up and plugged in my headphone amp. I heard sound on only one channel. Same thing when I plugged my headphones directly into the player's headphone jack.

I opened the unit up just to see if there was something obvious, like a loose wire or blown fuse. I just looked and say nothing, so I closed the unit back up. Guess what? No sound from either channel.

Any ideas?

Can you connect the digital output to a DAC and see if it works that way?

That would tell you whether the problem was in the digital or analog portion, most likely.

If you can, verify the power supply voltages.

Thanks for your reply. This model has no digital out. I'm connected to the line outs and I've tried the unit's own headphone output, with no sound either way. When you ask about power, do you mean near the power supply? I know it powers the unit as CDs start playing and the display works.
