After waiting nearly a month I received my new sony mdr-cd3000's today from etronics. They sound great, more than what I was expecting. The first thing I noticed was more clarity, huge soundstage, and more bass compared to the hd600's. I love the auto adjust headband too.

Anyway my question is what are the ear pads made of? leather or pleather?
Do any of you guys use a conditioner on the pads once in a while so they dont crack or tear?

The ear pads are made of pleather, and honestly, you shouldnt need to do anything except keep them clean. Mine have been in constant use for nearly eighteen months, and still look like new.
Congrats on your excellent taste in cans and your new purchase. Enjoy.

I do use a leather conditioner once in a while but it's not necessary at all. As Nightfall has mention just wipe the pads occasionally with a damp cloth and it should last for quite some time. Oh yeah, congrats on scoring your CD3k's. Let it burn in and it will sound even better.
