Dear friends! I've taken the plunge and ordered a Gilmore Lite headamp and Senn 650 'phones. Please, advise on the best cd player or any other source for listening classical music, for under $500.

There is a lot of fantastic classical on SACD - so don't count it out. But a good SACD AND CD player for under 500 might be hard. I don't have any specific suggestions though since I haven't tried very many of them (I spent alot more to make sure I got a player that did all formats well.)

NAD c542, Cambridge Azure 640c, and a used Rega Planet 2000 come to mind. I have the NAD, and it's served me well, and will continue to do so until I get some serious $$$.
