It seems Cayin HA-1 is now available here in US. Has anyone paired these two? Would like to know feedback if so.

It does have an impedance selector, so that should cover the K 1000s but not sure if the 2W is sufficient to drive the AKG's.

I just ordered the stax 3030 system but still can't get the AKG sound out my mind. Want to have both systems listen to them for a while and then decide to keep either both or sell what I don't like.

Here is the link to a recent thread on the discussion of this amp - of course there is no mention of pairing it with HA-1.

Thanks Orpheus. I found the following ratings from a chinese web site. Since I don't know chinese, simply deducing from the numbers ...

¶ú·Åʱ²ÎÊý£º

ÊäÈë×迹 220K¦¸ 220K¦¸ 220K¦¸ 220K¦¸
Êä³ö×迹 6¦¸-32¦¸ 33¦¸-64¦¸ 65¦¸-120¦¸ 121¦¸-300¦¸
Êä³ö¹¦ÂÊ 1.9W¡Á2 1.5W¡Á2 1.4W¡Á2 1.3W¡Á2
ÊäÈëÁéÃô¶È 300mV 240mV 220mV 210mV
ƵÂÊÏìÓ¦ 25Hz-30kHz 25Hz-30kHz 25Hz-30kHz 25Hz-30kHz
×Üг²¨Ê§Õæ 2% 2% 2% 2%
ÐÅÔë±È 88dB 90dB 92dB 96dB

So it seems it will deliver around 1.3W for the AKG's. Do you think that's good enough power? Is this math above (in the chinese spec) seem to be correct? I recall reading another thread where someone had given an approximate rating of how the power drops as the impedance increase. I remember that the drop was significant than a mere 0.6W drop! Any comments?

Any particular reason you want the cayin? The norh amp is a much more standard pairing with the k1000s.

... the reason for attraction was the various impendance settings you could have - bascially didn't want to have amps for the different headphones that I have / intend to collect. Unless of course my understanding that impedance matching isn't really that important, is incorrect. See, I have an MGHead with Senn HD600, I recently placed an order for STAX 404 with SRM 313 and if I buy AKG 1000 - another amp for it?!?! So my intention was if HA-1 works well for AKG1000, I could use it for the Senns too and then sell off MGHead and in future if I were to buy (which I will - thanks to head-fi) headphones of varied impedance, I could still use this amp.

I'm not one to raise false alarms but I distinctly remember a recent thread where someone questioned the performance of the cayin ha-1. If you really want a headphone amp with the power to take on an AKG and the Senns, I would reccomend the Berning MicroZOTL.

It's Franz from thetunerguy.com

He is advertising on Audiogon. There was one used on Audiogon just two - three days back if you are interested - around $400 obo.

If you do happen to buy them, please let us know your opinion of the amp.

Happy listening!
