Case for 5G

I was looking at different varities of cases for the 5G and have decided I'm either going to drop $70 on a Vaja, get an Agent18 (worried about the headphone out hole, looks smallish) or just getting like a zCover. What do you all have as far as protection for your 5Gs.

I've got a Zcover. It works okay, but the rubber attracts a lot of lint and that sort of thing when you put it in your pocket. Also, I had to cut out the headphone plug hole to be quite a bit bigger.

I'm using the Agent 18 cover with my Shure E5's. The headphone out hole has not been a problem with the E5's although I generally use an amp through the line out.

I have both the EVO3 and the Agent18 30GB 5G cases. The EVO3 is silicon and as such attracts a lot of lint. The Agent18 scratches fairly easily, especially compared to the hard plastic screen protector insert in the EVO3. The headphone jack opening on the Agent18 is large enough for all of the cans I've tried it with (UM1, super.fi5 Pro, E4C, ER-4P, HF-1 with Grado 1/4"-1/8" adapter, HD-580). The EVO3 headphone jack opening is a little problematic without modification for some terminations. Both are excellent cases and you really can't wrong with either one.

I use an Agent18. The idea is that the case gets all beat up, so the iPod doesn't. It's cheap enough to replace every year or so. No problems with the access holes on mine. It even docks if you take the sleeve out of the dock.

Just to clarify about the headphone jack hole and the Grado adapter...I have the 5G 30GB case and while the adapter does go far enough in, it does not go all the way in, and can jolt loose pretty easily. Still, this case is by far the best hard case you can get and all other headphones I have used with it go in just fine, and the PocketDock I use via lineout connects fine (I could not find another hard case that supported it). Before this case I tried out the Speck see-thru hard cases, and the only phones that would come close to fitting in the hole in the case were the thin stock ibuds. If you are looking for this type of case, you cannot get any better than the Agent18.

Thankfully, the Grado adapter's plastic flange on the mini end is useless, and can easily be trimmed with a sharp x-acto knife.

Agent 18 for me, and i'm pretty happy with it. it does have a tendency to get a little dust underneath it, but it's great otherwise.

pros:
not a lint magnet, like my old silicone case.
good clear screen protection.
secure
easy to slip into and out of pocket

cons:
dust specks between case and ipod
no clickwheel protection
bottom is open

My 25 buck PodsPlus Aluminum Case already got trashed, so I just bought a 10 buck OEM version from ebay - I'll report back if it's actually the same thing or if they just stole the pics from PodsPlus and are schlepping a crappier case.

If you are not planning to drop your iPod, IMO, nothing is better then the Invisible Shield. It adds absolutely no bulk/weight and leaves your iPod looking the way nature (and Steve Jobs) intended it.

The two major drawbacks to the Invisible Shield (IMO) are that it's a time-consuming pain in the ass to install and you expose your iPod to either water or Windex in the process. It may be a good solution for some, but a case is sooo much easier. A few seconds of your time and it's a done deal.
