I thought it might be worth starting a new car advice thread, seeing as the similar one was closed. My intention is to have a thread where people can ask about repairs and common issues with models (for instance if they're looking into buying a vehicle). I'd like to suggest modification and tuning be covered in another thread as appropriate (not that it's my place to police the threads!

To kick off, here's a photo of my broken window mechanism on a 2003 Seat Leon.

Before I completely strip the panel, no doubt breaking some vital clips somewhere or just plain ruining the door, does this look like something I could repair just by recoiling the cable or will I almost certainly need new parts? Note that the window is up and stays in place. Does this suggest that the clips that hold the window are intact?

Thanks.

Not familiar with that model here in the US...what does the cable do?

The cable is part of the winding mechanism. AIUI (which isn't very well!) there's a sort of crossbar arrangement giving a dual scissor action to raise and lower the window. The cable is attached to the motor that operates this.
