I'm 6'6 and 275lbs, with size 17 shoes and very long legs. I can't get into my parents late model Chevy Malibu or 1984 Ford f150. I don't think it's the height so much as it is the feet: they fall asleep after only a couple of minutes, because of the crazy angles i have to put my ankles at to push the pedals. Any reccomendations for cars are welcome, as long as they aren't for stupid stuff like the H2 or a semi.

I have a friend with the same problem. Of all the things, he found that an old 240z was quite comfortable for him. What he didn't like was the power, so he is currently building in a 289 V8, which he estimates will be 40 pounds lighter than the stock I6.

I've also heard good things about the newbeetle for surprising roominess.

Check over on caranddriver.com. They probably have some good suggestions.

Oh yeah, please don't buy an H2. It is nothing but a friggin Tahoe with a 20 k$ body kit. Every time I see one I roll down the window, point, and laugh as loud as I can!

I am 6'3", but with only size 13 shoes, and I find that certain cars made by VW are surprisingly roomy and have plenty of room down below for the feet. I guess the best way to find out is go to a local dealer and sit in one on the showroom floor or something, and if it feels good, take it for a test drive.

I also find my father-in-laws Nissan Frontier to be quite roomy in every way also!!

Best wishes on finding something that works for you!!!

Hey glad to hear that there are some other tall guys here.

Anyway, I'm 6'4" with size 15 feet and the most comfortable car I've ever been in was an old 1968 Corvette... A little exotic I know, but believe me that baby was comfortable. (It's more like laying down than sitting up.)

Let me think... I've noticed the Suzuki Aerio has a lot of vertical room on the interior...

unfortunately it's one car that's ugly as sin.

What is that, for people with antlers & afros?

Sorry, I don't know what came over me, I just had to let that out.

Blech!

You might want to look at a new style (99+ and later) Chevy/GMC full size pick-up. I'm pretty close to your height, have size 14 feet, but outweigh you by quite a bit, and the pick-up is the only vehicle made that I can comfortably fit into. Before that, if you can believe it, I had a Nissan 300ZX. This eventually ruined my back however. One nice thing about the truck is that depending on options they can be had relatively cheaply, last a long time with adequate care, and keep their value reasonable well, for an american vehicle anyway.

Good luck!

I was going to mention the new beetle too. It looks funny, but it's incredibly roomy.

Well, no matter how great they are, I'm not going to be able to buy a newer car. Tomorrow I'm going to a guy's house to look at a 1973 Mercedes 450 (he's asking for $3000). The interior photos he showed me look huge, but, then again, i might be huger. It's not really so much of a head room problem as it is a feet room problem.

penvzila,

If you're looking for an older car, I think your options may open way up. Check out a late 60's Caddy ElDorado, or Lincoln MkIV. These were two door vehicles with lots of room. I don't think the market has climbed on these like it has on the late 50's versions, or the 60's muscle cars. You might get one cheap. Though maintenance will divert some of your headphone money, which is a bad thing.

I don't want to discourage you on the 450, but maintenance on an older Mercedes can be VERY expensive. Before you drop your hard earned cash on a nearly 30 year old car, make sure you have it completely checked out by someone you trust. But I'm sure you know this already.

I'm 6 foot 5 and one of the only cars I can really feel comfortable driving is the Nissan Micra believe it or not.

The smaller the engine the bigger the legroom

I'm 6'7" and having to drive a Daewoo in Driver's Ed was not fun. My head hit the ceiling, and my leg was at a really awkward angle so my foot kept going to sleep. Not to mention the humiliation of driving around in a little car with a gigantic "Sears Driving School" sign on top...

I fit in both of my parents' cars though (Toyota Avalon & 4Runner)
