XtremeMusic Recapped with mostly Panasonic FM's and a few FC's.

ONLY recapped the caps used for power filtering and the caps on the digital side. Did NOT recap any caps for the opamps, power/filter/bypass or otherwise. They are all stock still.

So I did not touch any capacitors in the signal path, and I did not change any capacitors that directly fed the opamps.

All the capacitor capacitance values kept the same except for the power filter caps which were increased. Most new caps now have double their rated voltage specs though.

Here are the results, Note, this is in a a system with a psu I completely recapped with panasonic and united chemicon capacitors, and should have very stable rails. My DFI motherboard also has 100% Chemicon capacitors.

People with boards with cheaper caps, or cheap stock to midrange powersupplies will see more of a benefit from this mod. Basically, the dirtier the power coming from your PCI slot, the more this will help.

Also, what you can't see in the charts, but you can see in the graphs, is that many of the random sharp peeks in distortion and noise are now gone.

Also, the performance may improve slightly once the capacitors get worked in, and go through a couple power cycles.

I will update this as I replace other capacitors, and if anything changes with a bit of burn in.

Uhh... does this actually test the output of the card, over an analog cable, or just something internal?

It's an external loopback via a 3.5mm mini to mini.
