Can't stop listening to Keith Jarrett

Reverent bio on Nat'l Public Radio tonight (LA market anyway--it'll probably be repeated). They played some snips from nice mid '60s stuff with ARt Blakey, et. al.

BTW: they called his vocal noise "nasal whining" (direct quote), then got some critic to say it sounded pretty good.

Thanks for bringing up this topic. I'd never heard of Keith Jarrett previously. After reading this thread, i was motivated to pick up a copy of the Koln Concert.

One word: WOW!!

Thanks so much for bringing up Keith Jarrett music!

Great thread.

Keith Jarrett's an amazing talent. I'm surprised no one's mentioned his *Expectations* album yet, though. It's really something else - an eclectic range of styles, from fusion to free to gospel to funk, etc. I believe it was considered pretty pathbreaking when it was first released (early 70s).

I've gotten a lot of his stuff since, but this was my first exposure to his music. I was pretty floored by it - it took me a few listens before I began to really get into it, but then WOW. It remains an album I'll return to every now and then.

Hello Everybody.

I also have a small collection of K.J. and I know him sinds I was 21.
There is one CD of him I really want to mention and that is the CD "Spirits".
I'ts not music to listen to but i'ts music you have to feel.
It touches your heart and your soul.
With a lot of african and south american touches in it.
Special the 3th number of CD 2 has for me a very special meaning.

I also like very much.
- The morning of a star.
- Death and the flower.
- The Köln concert (ofcourse)
- Arbour Zena.
- Silence.
- My Song (specialy the tital song).
- Eyes of the heart.
- Concerts.
- Dark intervals.
- Changeless.
- Paris concert (very good to).
- Expectations.
- Vienna Concert.
- Standarts of Norway.
- At the Blue Note.,

What about Jan Garbarek the CD "Afric Pepperbird".
You hear very much the influence of K.J.

C.M.
