My criteria is (seemingly) quite simple:

32gb min on board or with sd card
good interface (returned the Cowon i10 because of this)
good SQ
10+ hours of real battery time
sub-$300
FLAC

heck...i almost bought a dang ipod classic yesterday (but didnt because of the interface)

Any suggestions?

I thought the interface was the best part of the iPod Classic. It doesn't surprise me however that someone might have difficulty finding a DAP that suits all their requirements. This is due to the nature of the market and what sells, seems good and is profitable.

The Sony F, Z series walkmen with neutron or power AMPs APPs add on it, Samsung P3, galaxy player 3.5, 4.2, Archos Yamaha series are great buy under this budget.
