So.. I am in the market for a new pair of headphones which will be used mainly for music and for some gaming as well (70% music- 30% gaming). I listen to rock, classic rock mainly though I do listen to many different genres also. I am looking for a pair of headphones which won't be to bassy and won't have a muddy bass. I currently have the hd518s which I don't like thier sound for music listening but thier OK soundstage really helps in CSGO so if i will get a closed back pair I might keep using them in this game. note that I like a more neutral sound signature yet not too flat. Fell free to offer me other models as well (thought about the K553, what do you think?)
forgot to explain the title... so it basically says that I can get right now the DT770 or wait a month and a half untill the k7xx will arrive from mass drop as the shipment ships in the 5th of October which in a month away..
The headphones will be plugged into a fiio e10k
Thanks!

With the 62-Ohm AKG 700 series (like the K7XX, K701, K702, etc), really might need a little more power, then the E10K, to bring out their best.
The 32-Ohm AKG K553 would be good, if the price is right.

If you were to get a Bravo Ocean hybrid headphone amplifier, plug it into the E10K's line-output jack, then the AKG 700 series (like the K7XX) might be more worth it.

Might check out the 32-Ohm Soundmagic HP200 headphones.

I used to own both, and much prefer the AKG K7XX,but as mentioned above they need some juice.

My Schiit Magni Uber drove them, but not great...bass was a bit ragged,so unless youre planning on upgrading your amp, perhaps a HE-400 or a Grado/Alessandro might be better.

Hated the DT770!

Since you asked me,I recommend a good vintage receiver(pre-80s).i own three and they drive every headphone Ive ever thrown at them perfectly, from HE-500s to Audeze LCD 2 to the very hard to drive AKG K340s to easy to drive headphones like my Grado Magnum.

Others will tell you to buy a proper headphone amp.....but for me I will never spend another cent on headphone amps
