I am looking to get some new headphones to listen to Classical and Jazz music. I would like to stay around 50 but no higher than 60 dollars. I was looking at the Sennheiser Hd-497's how are those?

The HD497 is a good choice, as is the PX100. The HD280 has a rolled off bass but you may find it an excellent headphone, plus it is very good at isolating, however, its a bad choice for portability reasons if you care about looks or practicality. I think the SR-60, 497, and PX100 are all great choices for all around music use, especially classical or jazz.

The HD-280 are very good with classical and jazz. Probably your best bet in the $60 range.

What are the mids and highs like on the 497s? The bass isn't too powerful, is it? I'm trying to find some headphones that are nice and detailed with mids that aren't overpowered by the bass.
