I was at that meetup and I'm game
Hi @donato!
I told my wife I was thinking of hosting another meet and she gave me one of those looks (if you're married, you know the one... that silent, looking-up-over-the-rim-of-her-glasses look). But she didn't say the word "no", so... yes :)

If memory serves, I think we had around 10-15 attendees the last time. If I can find a venue under $500, for at least 5 hours, and if we can have $20 donations from attendees, I'd be ok with eating the remaining costs.

I was looking online for spaces, and found these:
SF:
https://www.tagvenue.com/us/rooms/san-francisco/32007/trellis/rambling-rose
https://www.tagvenue.com/us/rooms/san-francisco/37202/manilatown-center/meeting-space

Brisbane:
https://www.tagvenue.com/us/rooms/san-francisco/40662/homewood-suites/meeting-room

We can find more affordable venues, if we look in Oakland.

Another possibility is reserving a library meeting room, in either the SFPL main branch or one of the more parking-friendly branch locations.
The rooms can accommodate 15 to 100+ people, depending on the room I reserve. I'll reach out my local branch and see if they can accommodate us. If yes, then I wouldn't need to solicit donations from participants.
BTW, @David A Silva , you had recently commented on the VC "Reverie" that were recently for sale (https://www.head-fi.org/classifieds/zmf-verite-closed-stabilized-reverie.34844/). I bought them, so if you come to the meet, you can try them out in person.

@DimitriSF - thanks for the heads up - I would love to check them out. Congrats on getting those VCs!
I can bring a DCA ACX and ZMF Auteur Classic.

I've started reaching out to possible venues and I'm going to look for a Saturday (unless there's some overwhelming preference for Sunday among those who will attend).

Last time, I was only able to have a 4-hour meetup, which I remember being too little time for some folks. This time, I will try to secure 5 or 6 hours (again, unless there's some overwhelming preference for more time).

Hey guys, I’m interested! I’d suggest keeping in somewhere along a BART line.

Thank you @DimitriSF !

Having never been to a meet before, how do people typically handle playback? Does everyone who plans to listen bring a laptop and a portable DAC, or the functional equivalent, to use for their personal listening? Also, is there a sign up sheet for people bringing gear?

Forgive these noobie questions. I imagine there is a well-established system given that head-fi meets have been going on for more than a decade! I’m more than happy to bring a couple of sets of cans.

I’m going to be in SF from Jan 7 to Jan 10. I’ll only have portable gear to share though - Fiio BTR7 and Moondrop Variations.

@Thunder240, thanks for your interest in attending.

After I announce the venue, date, time, attendees will RSVP by a TBD date and publicly post their gear. I'll periodically update the first post in this tread, with venue info and the latest list of attendees and gear.

As an attendee, treat this as an audio potluck, and try to bring something if possible.

If bringing headphones, bring cables. If you have both balanced and unbalanced cables, even better. If you have adapters, it wouldn't hurt to bring them too. But avoid adapters like these (https://www.sweetwater.com/store/de...112-1-4-inch-to-mini-stereo-headphone-adapter) as they put undue stress on input jacks.

If folks are bringing DAC/amps, they'll likely bring a headphone too, and an audio source (like a DAP or laptop) but not always. So, to ensure you can audition all the gear, consider bringing a DAP or phone with music.

Regarding BART access, the main SF library, on Larkin, is by the Civic Center BART/Muni station. But, parking is hard to find right in front, and it would be inadvisable for folks to parade expensive audio gear in this part of the city.

I will try to find a location that's reasonably accessible by public transportation, but also safe and accessible for folks who'll be driving.

Hi @Arora. Thanks for your interest. I don't have a date scheduled yet. With a little luck, you'll be in town when it happens. Thanks again.

@DimitriSF great explanation!

Working off of your public library idea, the Rockridge branch of Oakland Public Library is in a nice neighborhood, BART access, has both limited on-site and easy street parking, and has a meeting room with a 94 person capacity.
