From CBC article:
Quote:

"No evidence was presented that the alleged infringers either distributed or authorized the reproduction of sound recordings," von Finckenstein wrote in his 28-page ruling. "They merely placed personal copies into their shared directories which were accessible by other computer users via a P2P service."

Up yours, CRIA!

Canada: The real land of the free.

...glances around as he starts pulling his CDRs out from the hole in his backyard.

Yay! Even though I avoid P2P, it's a move forward in the 'Fair Use' arena. Sometimes it's nice to live in Canada.

Fair Use especially since we pay a levy.

Enjoy this law while you can because Canada may incorporate the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) treaties protecting international copyrights (the basis for the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act, or DMCA).

This means...bye bye to this form of downloading and welcome to the RIAA coming in to do worse things to you than Bubba from Cell block 3 would.
