I also think that it is a fair request to have expensive headphones to last a long time. I used to have three AKG headphones that worn out after 5 years. The drivers will then take too much current to get sound out of them. My 20+ year Beyer DT811 bit the dust two months ago not because it worn out but a bad tube destroy them. I am hopping that my T70 will last as long as the DT811 did. The DT811 outlast two of my Stax headphones. I have heard that the HiFiman is having some issues with their new HE-400 headphones. My only planner headphone Fostex T50RP is holding out okay so far.
