Hello everyone,
I am looking for an integrated headphone amp and DAC to drive a Hifiman HE-400. I will likely be getting slightly higher end orthos in the near future so I'd like the amp/dac to be suitable to drive higher end phones as well.
I've looked at the Schiit stuff and I'd love to spring for the Schiit Lyr but I can't justify the price plus the need to buy a separate DAC. What I would like is an integrated amp/DAC that has power approaching the Lyr and has a good DAC, but that costs close to what the Lyr costs alone or a little cheaper. I'd love to spend closer to $300 but up to $400 is acceptable.
Remember I am looking to drive orthos. I don't have any other equipment. I have a pair of HE-400 phones (soon to be higher end Hifiman) and a computer. I just want one integrated unit that can provide fantastic sounding audio on its own.
What do you recommend?
