I didnt know the amp was on the max and i had my headphones connected to it

i turned on my MD and i heard a slew of loud static for a moment before the music came in.

Can that loud, punchy static damage 'phones?

what kind of headphones?

grados make good speakers. senheisres and akg not so much because you cant make the drivers face "parallel" as much, but they still can run decenty power.

all of my headphones can be heard from oputside of my room when i burn in tubes and caps... none have any dammage
