Just bought MS1i, play with it for a few weeks and decided to put on an experiment to know how far it could deal with the bass.

I used FiiO E5 + E11, all EQ is up. The bass is good and I really don't hear any nasty sounds yet.

Will too much bass be bad for my ms1is? Are they well built for such *abuse (i don't know what word to put there,

)?

I use the E7/E9 with my MS2i's with windows setting on 6DB+ bass and usually go as high as 12DB. Most of the time when you EQ, highs/mids will drop instead of increase and bass will stay somewhat level to prevent clipping and/or damage. If you start to hear distortion, that's when you know you've hit a brick wall. I usually grab a hip hop song to test with when playing around with bass EQ. That's my experience with EQ'ing Grado bass anyway

I agree on pumping up the bass will result me to recessed mids and highs, anyway I was just experimenting.

I bet it's ok to pump up the bass unless it sounds boomy.
